2007 - 2008 Texas Hunting Regulations Are Here
Texas Parks & Wildlife have posted their Outdoor Annual online for the 2007 - 2008 hunting season. They have also made some changes to various rules from last year. Some of these include changes to licenses and fees, new fishing regulations for some species and a few new hunting regulations.
Some interesting hunting regulation changes include the requirement for taxidermists to retain the wildlife resource document or tag for a deer for two years following the return of the animal to the owner. Another regulation seeks to curb the tide of the commercial trading of nongame species. This most certainly is in response to the over-harvesting of turtle species for Asian markets.
TP&W also released its Proposed Waterfowl Seasons for 2007 - 2008. State waterfowl biologists are currently seeking public comment in regards to the new proposals. The general duck season will be the same length as last year with a few days taken from early Teal season to apply to “big duck” season. As we have written before on this blog, the waterfowl season is expected to be solid. Let’s hope!
