Winchester Will Bring Back the Model 70 in 2008!
Friday, November 2nd, 2007Long a favorite of American hunters, the Winchester Model 70 died a brief death in 2006 when new ownership stopped making them due to the expense. Now, Winchester Repeating Arms has announced that they will begin producing the Model 70 in 2008 here in the USA.
The “All-American Model 70’s will be built by American craftsmen in Columbia, South Carolina, at the same state-of-the-art factory as the rifles and machine guns used by America’s Armed Forces.” For 2008, the new Model 70 will bring back the pre-64 feeding mechanism and three-position safety as well include the all new M.O.A. Trigger System.
The new models will be offered in a Super Grade:
Featherweight Deluxe:

Sporter Deluxe:

and Extreme Weather SS models:

The new models should be out by June of 08′, will retail for around $1,000 and will come in various popular calibers. The Model 70 has been referred to as the “Rifleman’s Rifle”, especially the Pre-64 models that are so coveted by collectors. Lets just hope the new offering brings back the best of that era and more.
