Youth Outdoors

LeaseHunter is dedicated to perpetuating the family tradition of enjoying the outdoors in Texas.  Although our focus is in the area of hunting, we also encourage fishing and interaction with nature in general.  On this page, we focus on the various resources available to Texas hunters that encourage, promote and provide hunting and outdoor opportunities to our youth.  Take a kid outdoors and continue one of the last remaining traditions of Texas heritage left to give our next generation.

YOUTH HUNTER EDUCATION

YOUTH OUTDOOR ORGANIZATIONS

Coastal Conservation Association

The state purpose of CCA is to advise and educate the public on the conservation of marine resources.  The objective of CCA is to conserve, promote and enhance the present and future availability of these coastal resources for the benefit and enjoyment of the general public.

State of Texas Angler's Rodeo (STAR):

The State of Texas Angler's Rodeo (STAR) is, in effect, our membership recruitment drive for CCA Texas. It is exclusive in that all tournament entrants must be a current CCA Texas member before they are eligible to fish the STAR Tournament. It spans the entire Texas Gulf Coast and offers almost $1,000,000 in prizes and scholarships. It covers five major media markets for a three-month period starting the Saturday before Memorial Day and continues through Labor Day. Fishing categories include: Speckled Trout, Flounder, Sheepshead, Gafftop, Dorado, King Mackerel and Ling (Cobia). Prepaid college scholarships worth approximately $300,000 are awarded to kids each year, in increments up to $50,000 each, for catching the easiest and most plentiful bay species. A special tagged Redfish division is also included, with winners receiving complete boat and truck combos. Since fishing is the number one recreational sport in the country, CCA Texas has not limited participation to only the glamour species, so that we may effectively reach the fishing "family". The tournament is professionally directed "to ensure" a squeaky-clean" outcome. It is also zero-budgeted; that is, the money raised is plowed back into the event in the form of media, prizes and more scholarships. Indeed, it is a fun, wholesome recreational event for the entire family. With the option to fish for 100 consecutive days of action coast-wide, anyone can win, any time!!!

Christian Outdoor Alliance

LeaseHunter is proud to associate itself with many of Texas' finest outdoor associations.  But, we would like to single out one that we think deserves your attention and help. The Christian Outdoor Alliance is a wonderful faith-based, non-profit organization dedicated to youth of our state. Their mission statement is as follows:

"Our mission is to guide youth and outdoorsmen to a relationship with Jesus Christ through experiences in God’s great outdoors. We also strive to preserve the future of the hunting and fishing legacy through our youth hunting program, outfitted hunts and fishing trips, and a comprehensive ranch management program for landowners."

The Christian Outdoor Alliance offers several ways for youth to engage in outdoor activities. We have listed them here:

COA Outfitters - Our goal as an outfitter is to offer you a first-rate hunting or fishing adventure that you will never forget.   We host hunting and fishing trips on some of the best ranches in Texas, Mexico, and Oklahoma.  This approaches close to 200,000 acres of incredible, privately owned property.  When you purchase a hunt for fishing trip from COA Outfitters, you are helping fund one of the largest youth hunting programs in Texas.

How can you help? By supporting COA and their mission with a donation of hunting and fishing opportunities or financially by sponsoring a youth adventure yourself.

Texas Wildlife Association:

The Texas Wildlife Association (TWA) and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) have joined forces to offer youth hunts that are safe, educational and very affordable. We sponsor introductory, instructive youth hunts for deer, turkey, hogs, javelina, exotics, dove, small game, waterfowl, varmints and other species. Normally, we provide mentors, lodging and meals.

The Texas Youth Hunting Program was established to increase the numbers of youths participating in wildlife and hunting activities and to promote the hunting heritage in Texas.

Kids Outdoor Zone - Youth Outdoor Adventure

The Kids Outdoor Zone is a youth hunting, fishing and outdoor adventure ministry designed to teach boys Christian based values through cutting edge outdoor programs.  We believe the key to this program's success is mentorship.

Our mission is to teach boys how to become true men of God.  We believe that men are designed in a specific way and through the experience of outdoor adventure and relationships with Christian men who reflect God's light, boys can learn many of the life lessons that they may not receive in today's fractured homes.
